Ruler of intuition and magic, this Moon teaches us how to hold space for our own unique needs through the natural process of connection and creation. The Cosmic Mother teaches us to remain fluid in our cycles.; to wax and wane throughout the seasons, over and over again.
When you attune with the moon you become a mirror for this expansive cosmic energy. Awaken your senses and experience this cosmic energy as it comes to us through the four elements and is personified by the twelve archetypes of the zodiac. This Cosmic Mother is a perfect guide for your rituals as you connect to your intuition and create your own magic.
The New Moon marks the start of the lunar cycle as the Moon and Sun come together under the same sign. This alignment casts a shadow on the face of the Moon making it appear dark- yet she is receptive and full of potential. This darkness signals us to turn inward. During this three day period your time is best spent dreaming and conjuring intentions. Take some time to be alone with your thoughts and reset your energy if you need to. Allow yourself time to adjust to the darkness and soon the hidden will be revealed.
Find a quite space, light a candle or incense, close your eyes and put on your favorite meditation. Record any intuitive messages that arise and write out all of your dreams and goals. Pick one intention to focus on for the month from this exercise and visualize it already happening. Call in the support of your guides and well-healed ancestors to assist you through well placed signs and symbols. Speak your intention out loud, casting it out into the universe. See your dreams and intentions as seeds and carefully plant them in the garden of your subconscious - don't forget visit them daily.
Amplify the vibration of your intention by creating a Moon Altar. Your altar should be set up some place you see daily. Include items to represent the elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Spirit) and invoke essence of the current Moon Cycle. Your Moon Altar should also include a representation of your intention to serve as a daily reminder. You could simply write out your intention on a piece of paper or choose an object that inspires you achieve your intention. Your Moon Altar is also a great place to leave offerings for your guides and well-healed ancestors as they support your journey.
Expanding in illumination the first quarter moon is halfway to the full moon taking about 7-10 days from the New Moon. This is the time to take action as the energetic momentum builds. You may experience some road blocks or challenges as you begin to work with your intention. This is the time to practice discernment and revise your intentions as needed. You may feel an energetic boost once you have properly aligned your intentions and actions becoming a vibrational match for what you desire. It's time to push those little dream seed through the surface and prepare to enjoy the fruits of your labor. The waxing moon means it's time to grab your magickal tools and get to work!
Activate your intuition to help you say yes to taking inspired action. After you have set your intentions and asked your guides for well placed signs and symbols it's time tune into the whispers of the universe.
Activate your intuition by opening your third eye:
Close your eyes and place a finger between your eye brows. Gentle rub up and down as you sense, feel or imagine your third eye opening. Feel a spaciousness behind your finger filling up with a bright indigo light. Repeat "I am open to receive wisdom and guidance from the unseen"
Meditate for at least 5 minutes each day to practice your stillness, receptiveness and one-ness which is where intuition is most easily heard.
Work your magic with a daily card pull or tune into your favorite crystal or plant ally.
From New Moon to Full Moon:
Record the signs and symbols you are noticing around you - or any wisdom from your intuition, include any action you took based on the information you received. What results did you see from this practice? Make any adjustments along the way.
The Full Moon, when the Sun and Moon are in opposition and the Moon appears in fullness. This opposition brings polarity and balance as the scales begin to balance and we start to embody our manifestations of the lunar cycle. As she is totally illuminated the full moon also reveals hidden truths so be prepared for things to be brought to the surface in order to release or integrate them. This point in the lunar cycle is the culmination of the action-oriented, waxing energy. It is time to celebrate in gratitude for the blooming flowers we have become.
Healing Magick is amplified under the Full Moon and is the perfect time to get outside and commune with her essence. I recommend crafting a Full Moon essence to use during the waning Moon period with ingredients inspired by the elements you have chosen to work with for this cycle or ones that have shown up for you through signs and symbols.
For this essence you can use spring water or sea salt as your base. Place one cup of either base ingredient in a glass bowl or jar and place upon the ground if you can. If you can't get outside visualize a grounding cord from your bowl to Mother Earth. Gather up your inspired ingredients like crystals, herbs and flowers. Use your intuition to guide this process, trust your inner-voice, your soul knows what to do! As you add each ingredient to the base speak words of love and gratitude taking a deep breath in between each motion. Leave your mixture in the moon like to soak up the healing energy of the Full Moon. Retrieve the essence early in the morning and put a lid on it until you are ready to use. Add this Full Moon essence to your next shower or bath to remove any stagnant or unwanted energy as you prepare to rest and reflect.
Don't forget your magickal tools love the Full Moon, its the perfect time to cleanse your crystals, tarot cards, jewelry and other sacred objects.
The waning moon marks the start of the Moon's return to darkness. The waning period offers time for rest and reevaluate on what didn’t work in this lunar cycle. Focus on the refinement of your intentions and goals, have a think on any breakthroughs and revelations that occurred during the full moon. This is a potent time to shed more of the limitations that may have hindered your success along the way. Take your Full Moon essence bath if you haven't already and shed those layers.
The ritual for this lunar cycle is to prepare your space and your body for rest and rejuvenation. Grab a piece of paper and write down anything you wish to release from this cycle. Safely burn this paper and watch your limitations turn to dust. After you have rid yourself of what you are releasing cleanse your dwelling space with smoke by lighting herbs or incense. Make sure you get into the corners and doorways and before you finish, cleanse your aura by waving the smoke around your body. You can do these cleansing rituals daily in the evening as you practice the art of releasing, decomposing and starting anew as you trust this energy will be transmuting into something more useful, more beautiful.
